Presidential Dollars Coin - Compare Artist Renderings to the Coins We Get

Image
The Presidential Dollars began being issued in February of 2007, and will continue until at least 2016, until every deceased U.S. President has been honored. Because it goes against U.S. tradition (not to mention U.S. law) to depict a living person on the Legal Tender, ex-presidents can only be honored after they have been passed away for at least two years. The Presidential Dollar program, as stated in the legislation that created it, is scheduled to end in the first quarter of 2016 with Richard M. Nixon. However, it is expected that Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford will be included, and possibly George Bush, Sr., (born 1924.) This photo gallery allows you to see the coins before they come out, and compare the ideal artistic design (where available) to the actual coins after they are issued. Susan B. Anthony Dollar Coins Are Cheap & Easy To Collect

Image
Susan B. Anthony Dollar Coins Are Cheap & Easy To Collect Have you ever used Susan B. Anthony dollar coins to pay for anything? Probably not. And if you did, you were likely one of the countless people who didn't like using the Susan B. Anthony dollar! The Susan B. Anthony dollar was an unfortunate failure nearly from the moment it hit pocket change back in 1979. The biggest problems people had with the coin is that they: * Confused it with the quarter dollar, which is only a tad smaller * Refused to use Susan B. Dollar dollar coins because the dollar bill was still circulating * Didn't like carrying around dollar coins, which weigh more than paper currency of equal face value In 1980, a smaller number of Susan B. Anthony dollar coins was minted for circulation. In 1981 only a tiny number was made for coin collectors. It wasn't until 1999 that the Susan B. Anthony dollar was resurrected, because by that time the demand was rapidly growing for dollar coins in the vending...

The Lincoln Log Cabin Penny Is Still Popular With Coin Collectors

Image
The Lincoln Log Cabin Penny Is Still Popular With Coin Collectors The Lincoln Log Cabin penny was put into circulation during the late winter of 2009 and represents the first of 4 special 2009 Lincoln cent designs honoring the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. The Lincoln Log Cabin penny is sought after by coin collectors and is especially treasured in uncirculated grades and proof condition. The U.S. Mint struck the 2009 Lincoln Log Cabin penny (and the other 3 cent designs that year) in 2 different metal compositions: * The usual copper-coated zinc Lincoln cents were made for circulation in 2009. * 2009 Lincoln cents made for mint sets and proof sets were made from a 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc composition -- the same metal combination originally used for Lincoln cents when they were first struck in 1909. 5 Rare Coins For You To Find In The Lincoln Memorial Penny Series For 50 years we used the Lincoln Memorial penny. However, in 2009, the Lincoln cent underwent a major redesign that permanently removed the Lincoln Memorial design from our pennies. While most Lincoln Memorial pennies are worth only face value if worn and only 5 to 25 cents if uncirculated, there are a few special Lincoln Memorial cents that are worth hundreds -- even thousands -- of dollars. Here are the values of a few Lincoln Memorial pennies you should be keeping an eye out for: * 1969-S Doubled Die cent: $50,000 or more in uncirculated grades * 1970-S Small Date cent: $50 in Mint State 63 * 1984 Doubled Die cent: $75 and up in uncirculated grades * 1990 Proof No-S cent: $3,000 and up * 1995 Doubled Die cent: $10 to $25 in uncirculated grades 5 Rare Coins For You To Find In The Lincoln Memorial Penny Series

Japanese Coins

Image
Japanese Coins Japanese coins are dated by Emperor and the year of their reign. Therefore a coin minted in 1946 would be dated Showa 21, Showa for Emperor Hirohito and 21 being the 21st year of his reign. Emperor Hirohito reigned during the entirety of the base's existence. In fact, he reigned from 1926 to 1988. Coins minted during his reign would be dated from Showa 1 through Showa 63, and would be those most common during our time at Camp Hakata. However, a few coins from Emperor Taisho (reigned 1912-1926) would be encountered now and then. And, on very rare occasions one might run across a coin from Emperor Meiji's reign (1867-1912). 1 Sen coin dated Taisho 11 (1922) 1 Sen coin dated Showa 15 (1940) 1 Sen coin dated Showa 18 (1943) 1 Sen coin dated Showa 19 (1944) 5 Sen coin dated Showa 17 (1942) 5 Sen coin dated Showa 20 (1945)

Coin Tossing

Image
Coin Tossing Coin-tossing is the easy way to settle scores. There are more complex and more painful ways that adults employ when things go wrong. Some of these even end in death, (homicide or suicide). Quite painful outcomes. When relationships go sour, everyone suffers. Even the friends and family of both parties are usually recruited to take sides, or face everlasting wrath. The children, perhaps, suffer the most, as they are forced to stay in unwelcome war zones in their own homes. Battle grounds are drawn, and the children's heart torn into several shreds, as they become the prized possession of the stronger voice, or heavier hand. The courts are not allowed to stand aloof either. Women run to court to seek "vengeance", and quickly resort to theatricals to butress their point. The poor Judge must fall to the side of the woman, being the "weaker sex". There is shock for the man as he is told he must not return to his home, and must request the presence of th...
